Kathleen Briggs is quick to point out that she doesn’t have any initials after her name, but she has been lucky enough to brush shoulders with some fine musicians over the years and is seldom more than a day or two away from one musical performance or another. She is married to Dr. Robert Briggs and accompanied him or his choirs for over 40 years. His influence and that of her sister/partner have shaped her life and love of MHP's mission.
When Julia was about 12 years old she started taking lessons from a teacher who literally became a mentor for the following 10 years. As a piano performance major in college, she went on to win a national competition. In her 30’s she discovered a talent for creating music and it became a passion. Julia sadly passed away from ALS in 2013, but not before leaving a legacy of excellence in character and skill here at MHP.
Ann is a musician with international credentials and experience. Her music is sung in choirs throughout the US. She received a Bachelors degree in piano performance from the University of Alaska and a Masters degree in conducting from the University of Alaska.
“Nearly a third of my life has been lived in Alaska, so it’s only natural that I would write a good deal of music drawing on that experience. Some of the pieces are Alaska-specific, which means their use may be somewhat limited. But just keep in mind that the Spell of the North Country, the “Alaska mystique”, is alive and well in the hearts of many, and music about Alaska may prove more interesting to your audiences than you might think. I am greatly indebted to Dr. Suzanne Summerville and the Fairbanks Choral Society for furnishing the ideas, inspiration and impetus 🙂 for much of this music.
“Another few words: All three thirds of my life so far have been spent as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS/Mormon), and much of the religious music I have written tends to reflect that fact. However, many of our Church’s beliefs are shared to some extent by other Christian sects, and most of my music is applicable to whichever religious service you prefer. I hope you will use and enjoy the religious music you find on this website as just what it is — religious music, mostly non-denominational.
I’m a “young” great grandmother from the baby-boomer generation. I was born and raised in the country – city life scares me to death – and I now live out in the middle of nowhere with my husband and two very spoiled dogs. On our little homestead we can still hear the frogs croak, the crickets chirp, the birds sing and the coyotes howl and the sunsets usually take up nearly half the sky.
Music and writing have been my greatest passions for as long as I can remember. I started playing the piano and singing publicly at about age 8. When I was in the 5th grade, I wrote the words for my elementary school song.
I love life, and I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I feel that my greatest mission now is to share that love through my music with as many people as possible all over the world.
Robert Briggs received a D.A. in Choral Conducting and Music History. He also holds a M.M.A. in choral conducting and a B.A in music education.
His experience includes teaching in high schools for 14 years, then in colleges and universities for 14 years until early onset Alzheimer's disease forced him to end his career. Before that time, he was a tenor soloist with many symphony orchestras and choirs, and was a chorister in the Utah Symphony Chorus and Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Over the past few years Dr. Briggs has been writing a new collection of over 260 hymns and as an avid buff of Civil War history, he has arranged a collection of songs from that era. He and Kathleen have also composed a collection of 20+ original Christmas carols.
Pal (her well-deserved nickname) took piano lessons for many years, and has taught many piano students. One student asked her to simplify some hymns for her and that resulted in three simplified music books being published. She has accompanied many groups and soloists throughout the years and loves to also add bits of improvisations. She has enjoyed arranging for several musical groups, and being a rehearsal pianist for various productions of musicals. Her daughter, Delsy, an English teacher, has written words to several of the songs published in here for which Pal helped write the music.
Pal has nine children, many grandchildren, and a few greats. All of her children love music, and some have excelled in their own talents.
Eileen Evans has been sharing her love for music for over 30 years. She teaches private and group lessons in her Arizona piano studio, and enjoys writing fun, motivational pieces for her students.
Eileen holds a B.M. degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy from B.Y.U. and is a nationally certified teacher of music. She is a member of MTNA, and her local association PMTA.
Eileen is also active as an accompanist for instrumentalists, soloists, and community choirs. Her compositions include vocal music (solo and choral), and original piano solos & arrangements for beginning to advanced pianists. She has served as a church choir pianist for many years. Performing her hymn arrangements with them is one of her greatest joys.

Adam Scott received his BA in Music Composition from Utah State University where he studied with F. Dean Madsen and was able to taylor the program to meet his individual needs and interests. He enjoys writing in just about any style, including: full orchestral music (check out his two symphonies), choral ensembles (some easy, some heinously difficulty), solo voice (including excerpts from his opera buffa, Phineas Wrath), barbershop quartet music (just for kicks) and anything else anyone wants (he does commissions).
Over the years, Adam has worn many hats (some uglier than others): conducting, writing, coaching, singing, playing (tubas rule), critiquing and listening. He currently resides in Ivins, Utah with his wife and two (loud) boys.
